Bang Your Drums by Naoto Sawamura

(In English is the upper, in Japanese is the lower.)

I wrote this song in younger days. In that time I had participated in a blues-rock band that my role was the lead guitarist / sub-composer / sub-vocal. Other members than I were big fans of The Beatles. So, this band had played not only the blues covers but also The Beatles covers except our own compositions.

In younger days, I had been a stubborn boy. Every my old friends who were connected via the music was saying that The Beatles was phenomenal, game-changer and the best rock-and-roll band. Two band-guys whom I had played with in that time were saying the same. So, I had kept from listening The Beatles in younger days because I was a twisted boy.

In one day in the tenure of that band, we had decided to put The Beatles cover into our repertories. So, I had started to listen The Beatles reluctantly. But it had not took a long time to be blown my mind by The Beatles music. Especially I had shocked by Mr. Ringo Starr drums. If The Beatles has no Ringo drums, I might be attracted to The Beatles so much. Always the spotlight has been on Mr. John Lennon, Sir. Paul McCartney and Mr. George Harrison. But the beat and the sense of timing of Ringo Starr is the unchangeable axis of the music of The Beatles. I had felt so and now I still believe it is true.

This song was the first one I expressed straightforwardly The Beatles affection to my composing music.

Lyrics are below.

Bang Your Drums

When you have got judged the time to go
When you lift you head up and shut the door
When you find yourself not be free
And bang your drums loudly

Goodby world, say to be
And goodby world, say mightily
Feel it’s not the time to disappear
It is caused by your cowardly

For no one, I don’t want this ground
Only run around
Life is looking for the place to die
Or looking for the reason to hide your lie

When you have got judged the time to go
When you lift you head up and shut the door
When you find yourself not be free
And bang your drums loudly

Goodby World

Hello little one turns on me
And but you don’t exist
When you hold me tight softly
In my arms is only air

For no one, I don’t want this ground
Only run around
Life is looking for the place to die
Or looking for the reason to hide your lie

When you have got judged the time to go
When you lift you head up and shut the door
When you find yourself not be free
And bang your drums loudly

Goodby world

When you find yourself not be free
And bang your drums loudly
When you find yourself not be free
And bang your drums loudly

Goodby world
